Through a donation from the family of former Scottsboro High School student-athlete and businessman Larry Nevels, the Jackson County Sports Hall of Fame was able to begin a scholarship program during the graduating classes of 2017.

A female student-athlete and a male student-athlete were awarded $1,000 scholarships through this program to assist in furthering their education.
